One Room Challenge: The Reveal!

Hey look ma, we made it! No, seriously, mom? Did you see that we ACTUALLY FINISHED THIS TIME?! We finished the One Room Challenge. In six(ish) weeks. Like, [almost] all of it. Can you tell we’re a little excited? We are so stinking proud of ourselves and so, so excited to show you all what we’ve accomplished. But first, let us remind you of where we began…

Since these images were taken, we have completely transformed this space to feel like us; like home. It has been a journey, with a lot of ups and downs (not to mention indecisiveness). We could not have done it without the help of our amazing families (THANK YOU Wendy, mom, and dad).

Obviously, we decided to keep the OG chandelier. It was a big debate there for a while, but once we got the new chairs in here, it just felt right again. So, we kept it! We also kept my great-grandmother’s dining set that has a really meaningful story behind it. We did swap out the old chairs for some new, mid-century modern-vibe ones, and I really feel like it took the set from all antique to the antique-eclectic-modern vibe that I was going for.

Don’t let me fool you – we still have a fewww smaaaall things to knock off our list, mostly having to do with our stair install. BUT GUYS, THAT’S IT!

Thank you to everyone who followed along and offered encouragement as we tackled this One Room Challenge project! We really are so, so happy with how it turned out (Phillip included). For us, it’s such a good mix of old and new, which feels good in this house. We hope you like it too!

This journey really has been a little fun, a little stressful, and a whole lot rewarding. The One Room Challenge is such a wonderful event, because it surrounds all of us diy’ers with a community of people going through the same thing. And it keeps you in check, so you can’t slack (at least not toooo much). Make sure to head over to the ORC blog to see all of the other rooms being revealed today! There really are some beautiful spaces to discover!
